At Galaxy Diorama, some creations go beyond collecting. They become personal tributes.
Today we’re sharing an important update on our custom George Lucas 1:6 action figure, a handcrafted limited edition collectible inspired by a very specific moment in cinematic history: George Lucas during the production of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith at the Fox Studios in Australia.
This project represents our passion for Star Wars, filmmaking, and high-end 1:6 scale craftsmanship.
Why We Chose George Lucas During the Prequel Trilogy Era
Our 1:6 George Lucas figure portrays him during the Prequel Trilogy period (1999–2005):
-
Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace
-
Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones
-
Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith
For many of us, this was the era that defined childhood. When The Phantom Menace premiered, it sparked a lifelong love for Star Wars.
After watching Light & Magic on Disney+, we were reminded of how revolutionary this period truly was. Lucas wasn’t just making movies — he was redefining digital cinema.
Through groundbreaking innovations developed alongside Industrial Light & Magic, the Prequel Trilogy became a large-scale experimentation lab for CGI environments, digital characters, virtual cameras, and advanced pre-visualization workflows that would later shape the modern blockbuster industry.
This is the version of George Lucas we wanted to immortalize: the innovator at the peak of creative and technological ambition.
Research & Development: Studying Every Detail
Creating an accurate George Lucas 1:6 scale figure required deep research.
We analyzed:
-
Behind-the-scenes footage from Revenge of the Sith
-
On-set photos from Fox Studios Australia
-
Lucas’ outfits and layered clothing
-
Accessories, watch, glasses
-
Body posture and directing gestures
Our goal was realism. Not a generic likeness — but a precise historical representation.
Digital Head Sculpt & Resin Prototype
The project began with a fully digital head sculpt.
Capturing George Lucas’ facial structure and expression in 1:6 scale was our top priority. After weeks of refinement, we produced the first resin 3D printed prototype.
Holding that first physical head sculpt was an emotional milestone. It transformed a digital concept into a tangible collectible.
We then focused on hyper-realistic painting:
-
Accurate skin tone matching
-
Subtle facial shadows
-
Natural reddish tones around nose and cheeks
-
Eye color accuracy
-
Hair detailing
-
Micro skin imperfections
While the first prototype achieved strong realism, we identified areas to improve — particularly facial shading transitions and warm undertones. Refinements are already in progress.
Full Prototype Assembly: Body, Proportions & Articulation
A few weeks ago, we assembled the first complete prototype of our George Lucas 1:6 action figure.
This stage allowed us to test:
-
Body articulation
-
Padding system
-
Height proportions
-
Outfit fitting
-
Accessory compatibility
Recreating George Lucas’ Physique
Achieving Lucas’ recognizable physical presence was challenging.
Using a bulky body made the figure look exaggerated and unrealistic. Instead, we drew inspiration from the padding system used in the Boba Fett – Television Masterpiece Series by Hot Toys.
By adapting a similar internal padding structure, we achieved a robust yet natural silhouette — realistic without appearing caricatured.
We also noticed the base body used was slightly too tall. We are currently sourcing a shorter body to improve scale accuracy.
Screen-Accurate Outfit & Accessories
The outfit recreates George Lucas’ iconic on-set look:
-
White sneakers
-
Blue jeans
-
Belt with distinctive buckle
-
Plaid shirt
-
Casual jacket
Accessories include:
-
Round steel wristwatch with black strap
-
Prescription glasses
-
Headset with walkie-talkie
-
Fox Studios Australia production badge
The “GOSH – Coffee” Detail: Small but Meaningful
In behind-the-scenes photos from the Fox Studios in Australia, George Lucas is frequently seen holding a takeaway coffee cup.
After extensive research, we identified the original source:
Located at 85 George Street in Parramatta, near the studios, this café became a subtle but powerful detail in our project.
We recreated the “GOSH – Coffee” logo in 1:6 scale — a seemingly small element that captures a real moment during the production of Revenge of the Sith.
For collectors, authenticity lives in the details.
Production Badge & Prop Accuracy
For the production badge, reference material was difficult to find — until we discovered auction images from Propstore.
In 2024, Propstore auctioned original items belonging to Anthony Daniels, including a genuine Revenge of the Sith production badge.
Using high-resolution images, we recreated the badge in 1:6 scale, adjusting typography for readability while maintaining visual authenticity. After several attempts, we laminated it to achieve a realistic finish.
We also adapted original storyboard pages and script excerpts from the same auction references, cleaning and resizing them to scale. These pieces add depth and storytelling potential to the display.
Interchangeable Hands for Dynamic Display
The figure includes six pairs of interchangeable hands, designed specifically for a director’s expressive poses:
-
Instruction gestures
-
Relaxed hands
-
Object-holding grips
-
Directing poses
This allows collectors to recreate realistic behind-the-scenes moments.
Display Base in Development
We are currently finalizing a custom display base with:
-
Support stand
-
Engraved nameplate “GEORGE LUCAS”
